Virtual Existences
As a person who does not have a virtual social life I cannot really identify with some aspects of these results (http://www.kidscape.org.uk/events/SurveySummary_02082011-complete.pdf). I will however try to be understanding and non judgemental.
I think that a number of children are happier in a virtual existence because it's an environment in which they can have control and show the world what they want to show. In the real world children are generally powerless, exposed and vulnerable. They can't really hide who they really are and as a result they can be subjected to bulling. They also have to obey the rules of their parents, which many children object to.
I think that there is definitely a generation gap between children and of adult of today. Most adult went through the whole of their childhood without the internet being this place where people socialised through a virtual world, so these adult had no choice but to spend their childhoods in the real world. Whereas as many children have grown up with a choice of socialising in the real world which can be difficult or socialising in the virtual world which can be easy. The problem with spending so much of your life in the virtual world is that it is not the way the majority of the world live. The people who spend their life online are living on the margins of society and are more likely to be missing out on the important tools needed to engage with the majority of society.
Why Go Virtual ?
Its a lovely place to be really!
Many people feel far more comfortable and free in a virtual web enviorment nowadays.
Its the idea of mainly recreating themselves into something or somebody that perhaps reflects in their minds. Also children are more able to behave and speak more openly on what goes through thier minds with out feeling clamped down by society.
Why a Problem?
Parents of children who spend most of their time on virtual gaming enviorments often feel their child are safe at home in their presence on the computer or laptop. But research shows that this is not alway true as more cyber crimes and annoynemous Paedophiles are happening far more often.
My personal life experience

My personal life experience
Now growing up as a kid i did not spend too much time behind the computer screen or in virtual worlds. But I did enjoy socialising and doing a lot of physical actitivies such as playing football. This in a effect has made me very social and more confident on tackling any challenges in life.

Google Wave
The reason why Google released Google Wave as an unfinished format
- Allow programmers to design programs at an early stage e.g. games, admin tools.
- They want to create the best messaging service which is continually being up dated and improved with the aim of being more users friendly.
- Brainstorming ideas
- Meeting agendas
- Program creation
- To foster a sense of community amongst those who had an input in creating the product. and build customer loyalty
- To see the future and the capability of what Google are doing
- Audience participation
- Transparency
- They want people to use their messaging service instead of rival services.
- They take their prototype and have the end user of the product test it. They record the results of the test and make any amendments which are required and then create the final version which is distributed or in the case of a system implemented. Google is open source and free and allows anyone to use its services. They have a great sense of transparency, compared to a company such as Apple who are closed and secretive about their future plans.
Collaborating vs. Cooperation
Collaboration means working hand in hand together to achieve a goal or something.
Cooperation means the act of working together to achieve a common goal through compliance.
The difference between the both is that collaboration is working towards a goal, while cooperation is working towards a goal with compliance.
The sheep's in the video didn't really understand the aim of the shepherds; they were only working in compliance which is the state of conforming with or agreeing to do something.
The shepherds didn't moan about the sheep because the sheep were just acting as they were supposed to act and the shepherds weren't expecting any kind of compliance from them.
In a team, I believe what would be required most will be both collaboration and cooperation, otherwise there won't be harmony in the team and achieving the goal would be near impossible.
In conclusion to the video, viral marketing is all about awareness through referrals for instance can be forwarded to friends and share on social websites.

To collaborate is purely to come together as a team and understand the goal or target that one is trying to achieve.
It also involves the sharing of knowledge and understanding to overcome obstacles.
Cooperating I see is more submissive and being actively responsive and understanding to the requirements that you have been asked.
The dogs maybe do not understand the human's aims of the extreme shepherding experiment but they seem happy to follow the set instructions given by their master. Just as if they were shepherding sheep's normally in a farm is perhaps the same behaviour patterns the dogs were following.
Technically speaking it would have been impossible for this experiment to be carried out correctly without the roles of the dogs and the sheep's.
The sheep's were behaving normally just as a sheep would behave. And behaving in a uncooperative manner.

................................................................................................................................
Collaboration is something created by working jointly with another or others. Collaboration does not require people to work closely with each other each person must perform the job which has been given to them.
Cooperation is work close with another person and providing assistance
The dogs do not understand the aim of extreme sheepherding, but they do know how to herd sheep and follow instructions given to them by the shepherds and the herding would not work without them.
The sheep are doing what come natural to them when being chased by a dog, the shepherds do not moan about the sheep not working with them because they know what to expect of the sheep's they knows the sheep's limitations. They also appear to have a passion for what they are doing and that comes across in the video. Not every member of a team need to know the goal is for it to be a successful outcome, all that is required is for all of the members to do the task which they are assigned to do.
In order for this whole effort to be a success it requires people to see it. This is viral marketing piece and it requires collaboration from a larger number of people in order to be seen its success depends on people seeing the video and then sending it on to other people to see. I manufacturer behind this piece expects that as result of this advertisement people will better recognise and remember their brand, which will hopefully lead to more people purchasing their products.

Sexting protection for parents
The sexting and cyber bullying issues are a big problem that is happening with in the cyber world at this present time. My main concerns do go out to the parents of these young victims.
Bullying is no longer a conventional playground problem that happens in schools anymore.
parents can actively get involved with whats happening in their childs life...

Consequences of the internet
In my option what the young girl done in the youtube video was not only a social mishap by also a criminal act. She is under the age of 18 and there for taking and distributing sexually explicit images of herself breaks a number of laws in place to protect children and young adults. I Australia underage people who have done the same things she has done have found themselves in trouble with the law. Also people who like the boy in the youtube video who have received the photos have found themselves facing criminal charges. to read more about this case visit.
It is very important for the young people and their parents to know about the consequences and implantation of having so much personal information placed on the internet where is available for the world for people to do with it as they wish. The internet is a place with very few barriers and restrictions, and once something has been placed on it or sent it can be next to impossible to get back or undo what’s been done. It is important that who use the internet and all digital technology are techno savvy.
Digital footprints
1. Who owns the photos taken by the girl in the video?
It is owned solely by the girl, and everyone else who uses it or receives it must have permission from her before they can have it.
2. What do you understand by the term ‘Digital Footprint’?
It is a trail left by a user via different digital communication scheme between parties.
3. Should employers have access to your life on line?
I believe work should be separated from private life, and employers don’t have a right to access you private life without your permission.
4. Take a look at your own Face book area. Would you be happy for classmates to see it? Staff? Your project supervisor (who may write you a reference). A future employer? Your parents? Your grandmother? What if things you put up there today followed you forever?
I try to ensure that I don’t give away sensitive and too much information on social websites; I keep everything on there as simple and polite as I can. Anyone can go on my profile without me having any fears.
5. How about parents. Do they have the right to put up ‘cute’ photos of their children when that image might be associated with their child forever?
Now, I believe this topic can be seen in two ways; parents have the sole responsibility to know what is good for their children, as the child might not understand the implications at the time cause of their age. I don’t see any problems with it at all.
6. Why is it so important that teenagers understand the digital footprint?
It will make them aware of the importance of sharing data with friends; teenagers will have an understanding that any data that they give out about themselves is no longer in their control. Hence the importance of digital footprint is vital.
7. The girl in the video wants to blame someone. Think about what happened. Identify the things that were done that weren’t acceptable and explain why they were unacceptable.
It’s always easy to put the blame on someone as you feel the need to ease the pressure on yourself, while not knowing that most of the fault is yours in the first place.
8. Is it ok to forward mail without permission?
No, I don’t believe you should forward an email or message without the owner’s permission.
9. Is it ok to forward photos without permission?
No, I don’t believe you should forward a photo without the owner’s permission.
10. Think about these questions and think about how you would design advice to teenagers using social networking sites and tools (text, forums, facebook, flickr etc). Turn this into a blog entry to go into your new team blog.
It's up to parents to make sure their kids are safe when they use social networking. Many of the same rules that apply to online chat apply to these sites:
• Use an alias.
• Don't give out personal information to people you don't know. A last name and a town are enough for a predator to locate your child.
• Don't assume that people are who they claim to be.
• Immediately end any communication that makes you uncomfortable and report it to a parent.
For younger teens, you should investigate any sites they'd like to use. Find out what privacy protections are in place and insist that your teen uses them. For children under 16, that often means a private profile that can only be seen by approved friends.
Older teens may want a public profile to promote a band or other creative work. In this case, have your child create a second, public profile for the project while still restricting the personal profile to family and close friends. It's best to set up these profiles with a free e-mail from Yahoo or Google using an alias that can't be traced back to find personal information.
Encourage your kids to tell you if they're victims of cyber bullying or harassment. Many teens will try to deal with this on their own, which can have disastrous consequences. If your child knows who's behind the harassment, involve the other child's parents or school officials. If it's anonymous, remind your child that it's not personal; some people just think it's fun to say mean things about others.
