Consequences of the internet

In my option what the young girl done in the youtube video was not only a social mishap by also a criminal act. She is under the age of 18 and there for taking and distributing sexually explicit images of herself breaks a number of laws in place to protect children and young adults. I Australia underage people who have done the same things she has done have found themselves in trouble with the law. Also people who like the boy in the youtube video who have received the photos have found themselves facing criminal charges. to read more about this case visit.
It is very important for the young people and their parents to know about the consequences and implantation of having so much personal information placed on the internet where is available for the world for people to do with it as they wish. The internet is a place with very few barriers and restrictions, and once something has been placed on it or sent it can be next to impossible to get back or undo what’s been done. It is important that who use the internet and all digital technology are techno savvy.

  1. You might ask yourself whether resorting to the law is the right response. The law could punish her I guess but what of the punishment she has already had? Do you think that was deserved? If it was, who else should be 'punished'? And for what reasons?

  2. Hi Xristine thank you for your comment while I do understand that resorting to the law may seem like rather hash response to the situation. I feel that it’s really important for young people to understand the seriousness of their actions and to understand where it could lead. I do not think that most young people under the age of 18 know that processing and disturbing inappropriate image of people under the age of 18 is illegal even if they are pictures of themselves. I may hope would be that by knowing the consequences of these actions that other young people would be deterred from replicating them.
